Volunteer As An Individual

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Harbor House of Central FL and wanting to make a difference.

We offer two types of volunteer opportunities

Indirect Volunteering- Opportunities can include special events, administration, community education, yard beatification, child care, project management, etc. Most indirect services are held M-F during the business day, with limited opportunities nights and weekends

Direct Volunteer- (Working directly with survivors and families) opportunities are available after 40 hours of indirect service has been completed and the completion of CORE training (30 hour state certification). These positions would include shelter advocate, courthouse advocate and crisis hot-line, etc.

All volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

In order to ensure the proper placement, and for the safety of our survivors, our process for new volunteers is a several step process.

1. Fill out an application online.
2. Attend a Volunteer Orientation/R3 Training. (Held twice a month)
3. Begin fingerprinting/background check process. ($60.00 processing fee)
4. Volunteer will complete an interview with Volunteer coordinator to determine eligibility, area of interest and scheduling.

*Harbor House does NOT provide court-mandated community service hours.

Volunteer As A Group

Unite your business team, civic group or church group in a powerful and purposeful way to support Harbor House. We would love to partner with your group to help make a difference at Harbor House.

• Provide a hot meal for the survivors and their families;
• Create a special activity to engage the families;
• Bring a celebration for the holidays;
• Provide activities for the children such as arts and crafts or water fun days;
• Help with beautification (lawn care, weeding, painting, etc.)

Your idea not on the list? No worries! The opportunities are endless.

All volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Groups with minors must have a team leader responsible for the group. *Harbor House reserves the right to deny or cancel an event if it is deemed unsuitable for the organization. Children under the age of 18 are allowed to volunteer in workgroups, but they must be supervised by a parent, guardian or group leader AT ALL TIMES.
